The 'not so' January Blues....

Happy 8th of January!

Random, I know, but remembering that sometimes January can be a bit of a doom and gloom month for me, I've decided to THINK POSITIVE and in this month of back to work, back to school, still cold, still dark month, to celebrate the ordinary and take each day as it comes.

As I speed-read a few blogs last night in the whirlwind that was 'getting everything ready for first day back at school' Lou's post struck a real chord with me.
As my first morning alone (!) for 3 weeks I was ready for an intense morning of getting jobs done, rushing about and ticking things off my list and feeling in uber contol and organised. (This state of mind doesn't present itself to me very often..)
Then Lou reminded me that actually, what I would really like to do the most for myself would be to sit down, have a cup of tea, s-l-o-w read some blogs, plan new prints for my little shop, and *dream* in the drunkeness of peace, quiet and solitude.

I'm dreaming of my beautiful place...ideally let it be filled with sunshine, warmth, cosyness, and a nice cup of tea (ok- once it's past 12pm I'll have a glass of red please).
Of course, once I've had my moment of getting lost I'd love to be surrounded by my boys and my wonderful friends, but for now, this is just for *me*.

How about you, where would you like to 'get lost'?

(If, like me you can only dream, then let this print inspire you!!)

  1. Gosh, it's been so long since I've had proper 'me-time' I'm not sure I'd know what to do with myself! Your print is lovely btw! x

  2. I know Col - it does take a while to switch off! (I cunningly spent yesterday cleaning bathrooms etc so I wouldn't feel guilty this morning for not 'being useful'!)

  3. I am very bad at completely switching off, I feel guilty and get restless if I sit still for too long. But, yesterday morning, while the kids were at school and nursery, I put Radio 4 on and opened all the windows and got on with some chores, and it was lovely to have that time to myself.

I love your print too - the design and the sentiment!

  5. I was planning a bit of that today, but with one off sick (already) I will just have to wait a wee bit longer.

Beautiful print and 'Happy New Year' - it's the 8th already!

    2. Ps thanks for sending some Leibster love my way, I don't mind at all, but it may take me some time to write down all those 11 things! Xx

  7. That really is a beautiful print. My me time is hopefully going to come on the form of a few gallery visits on my days off this year, but a peaceful cup of tea in the sunshine at my kitchen table wouldn't go amiss either. I too have nominated you for the Liebster award thing (oops, should have read Bee's original list properly) so you can probably ignore the questions on my blog - 22 things to write down is too much for anyone!!

  8. I love that print - I think my place to get lost in at the moment would be my bed as I'm rather zonked! (teething baby...zzz...) But on more awake days, sitting looking out over the sea, feeling warm sun on my face, with a glass of something cold in hand, would be perfect! Thank you for visiting my blog!x

  10. Gorgeous print! Love your style. My way of getting lost would be in a book, or whilst painting or drawing. X

  11. I'd love to just get lost wandering around London like I used to when I didn't have as many deadlines!

(stopping for a glass of red at lunchtime, naturally;)
